SLINGERLANDS – Allan G. Kleinke, 84, of Slingerlands, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in 1941, he was the son of the late Willard and Margaret (Gretchen Gutman) Kleinke and brother of the late David Kleinke. He was a graduate of Albany High School and Hamilton College. Allan was a member of the 364th General hospital Army Reserve Unit and retired from the New York State Department of Taxation and finance after 31 years of service.

In retirement he rebooted his volunteer activities which dated back to his teens when he was a swimming instructor for ten years for the American Red Cross program in Albany, Ravena, and Thacher Park. He devoted time to the Blessed Sacrament Thrift Shop, Red Cross Blood Program, and Friends of the Guilderland Public Library. A prolific watercolor artist, Allan was a member of the Niskayuna Brush and Palette Art Group and an enthusiastic, if not accomplished, golfer and fly fisherman.

In keeping with his goal of keeping a low profile, there will be no viewing or other services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice or to the Center for Disability Services, 314 South Manning Boulevard, Albany, NY 12208. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hans Funeral Home, Albany. To leave a message of condolence, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com .
