ALBANY – Anne Marie Feily Delehanty, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on June 17, 2023, at Teresian House. Anne was born August 8,1919, at the family home at 53 Riverside Avenue, Rensselaer, NY. She always attributed her longevity to “faith and family” and she cherished a simple life for almost 104 years.
Anne was a graduate of St. John’s Academy in Rensselaer and a faithful parishioner of St. John’s Church for over 50 years. She graduated from the College of St. Rose in 1940 and went on to work for the State of New York for a number of years before and after raising her family. She worked for the Department of Taxation and Finance and, later, in the library at the University at Albany.
As a faithful parishioner at St. John’s and at All Saints Catholic Church in Albany, Anne was involved in many organizations including the Rosary and Altar Society, the Mothers’ Club, Granny Squares, and a number of groups that supported women and their children. Anne was known for the beautiful knitted sweaters and crocheted blankets she created for her family and for those in need.
Anne loved the simple things of life: the sunrise, the sunset, knitting, flowers, and having time to say the rosary. She loved taking the family on picnics to Thacher Park, and looking for fossils. She lived her faith by example and prayed daily for all of her family and loved ones.
Anne was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, John J. Delehanty Sr., her parents John H. Feily II and Mariah Louise LaCoy Feily, and her two brothers Joseph F. Feily and John H. Feily III. She is survived by her children, Patricia Tuzzolo (late Richard), Mary Louise Jackson (Eric), and John J. Delehanty Jr. (Wendy); her ten grandchildren Gregory Tuzzolo (Nicole), Ellen Tuzzolo (Jessie Justin), Matthew Tuzzolo, Elizabeth Tuzzolo, Brendan Jackson, Annie Jackson (Stephen Smigielski), Carrie Bergeron (Bryan), Karen Delehanty (Gabriel Rodriguez), John J. Delehanty III (Katie), Daniel Delehanty; and her nine great grandchildren, Enzo, Isla, Salo, Roco, Tully, Fiadh, Molly, Nora, and Rose. She is also survived by her nephew, John H. Feily IV (Donna).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m., Thursday, June 22, at All Saints Catholic Church. The family will be available to greet visitors at the church, beginning at 8 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
