DALLAS, TX – Anne Natoli Thomas, formerly of Albany, NY, passed away in Dallas, TX, on Sunday, May 12, 2024. Mrs. Thomas was born in Norwich, NY. She was the daughter of the late John G. and Grace Juiffre Natoli.
She graduated from Norwich High School with the class of 1946. She received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in 1950 and 1951 respectively from the State University of New York at Albany, NY.
She worked at General Electric Co. in Schenectady, NY as an engineering assistant before entering teaching in 1954. She taught mathematics and science at Lansingburgh Junior/Senior High School and became a high school guidance counselor at Lansingburgh in 1969, retiring in 1991.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Lansingburgh Retired Teachers Association and a live member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Capital District Association for Guidance and Counseling. She was also a member of the Alumni Council of the State University of New York at Albany, and served as class councillor for 20 years.
Mrs. Thomas was a volunteer at the Albany Institute of History and Art and the New York State Theater Institute.
She was a communicant of the former Church of the Holy Cross, where she was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. She also was a member of the scripture study group and a member and officer in the Holy Cross Seniors organization.
She moved to Dallas, TX to be closer to her daughter and family. She became active in her church, All Saints Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Bible Study group. She joined the Golden Saints, where she served as the Recording Secretary. She was also a member of the All Saints Women’s Organization.
While in college, she met and married William H. Thomas who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her step-mother Jennie Famolaro Natoli, and her sisters Julia Famolaro, Mary Piper, and Mary Grace McDonald.
Survivors include her daughter Karen A. Calvert (Burton) of Golden, CO; her grandchildren Thomas Calvert (Jennifer) of Louisville, KY, and Allison G. Petersen (Christian) of Golden, CO; her great grandchildren Markus Petersen, Declan & Kaeden Calvert, and Ean Rieger. She is also survived by a nephew Dr. Robert McDonald; a niece Dr. Natalie McDonald; and several cousins.
A graveside service will be held in Memory Gardens, 983 Watervliet-Shaker Road Albany, NY 12205, on Saturday, June 1st, at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends are invited. To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
