ALBANY

Dorothy Centi

ALBANY – Dorothy Centi, 94, of Albany, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Dorothy was born in Brooklyn, the daughter of the late Daniel Infante and Antoinette Greco Infante. She worked for a time as a legal secretary, and after her marriage lived in Maryland, New Jersey, Brooklyn, and Worcester, MA before moving to Albany in 1970. Dorothy was active with her husband in the Italian American Community Center in Albany, and devoted herself to the loving care of her family.

She was devoted to her family and cherished her role wholeheartedly. Somehow, even with a young family, she managed to always maintain an immaculate house, sew like a professional seamstress, iron, and cook for a family of seven every day! The quintessential mom. Her job as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was her greatest joy, and she fulfilled it with unwavering commitment and love, consistently making her family her top priority. Her appearance also reflected her pride and attention to detail, making a lasting impression wherever she went. Without fail, even at 94, she was dressed impeccably. Hair done, nails polished and never without her lipstick to match. She was simply of a generation that no longer exists.

She was equally steadfast in her faith. A staunch Catholic attending Mass every Sunday, and praying her Rosary daily. Her faith guided her actions, and she found solace in her beliefs. One of her favorite phrases was “this too shall pass” the Persian adage meaning nothing lasts forever, including both joy and sorrow. We will embrace this more than ever, now, as we remember all of the wonderful times and mourn her passing.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Dr. Paul J. Centi in 2011. She is survived by her children Daniel Centi (Rosemary) of Guilderland, Mary Nelson (The Late Jean) of Voorheesville, Paul A. Centi of Guilderland, Dorothy Centi (Mike Burnett) of East Berne, and Liz Centi (Mike Muscato) of Altamont; her grandchildren Daniel Centi (Lisa), Justin Centi (Amanda), Jacqueline Eaton, Joe Nelson, Jeff Nelson (Ashlynn), Chris Nelson, Paul Jones, Micaela Jones (Will Scotti), Alyssa Grogan (Matt Dyjack), and Daniel Grogan; her great grandchildren Evangeline, Daniel, Brian, Marianne, Harrison, Rowan, Brandon, Camryn, Judson, Theodore, and Alana; her sister-in-law Clem Brumley; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her sister Antoinette LaLuna (The Late Anthony).
