Dorothy Mazzola

SLINGERLANDS – M. Dorothy Mazzola, 86, of Slingerlands, died Friday, April 22, 2011 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Mrs. Mazzola was born in Cohoes, and during her married life lived in Endicott and Poughkeepsie before moving to Albany in 1980. She was a communicant for many years of the former St. Teresa of Avila Church in Albany, and served as a volunteer for many years at the Villa Mary Immaculate Nursing Home.

Mrs. Mazzola was predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Mazzola in 1993. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Gallagher of Selkirk, and Candace Joanne Shabez of Plymouth, MI; her grandsons Scott Gallagher (Isela) and Matthew Gallagher (Deanna Rockenstyre); her great grandchildren Joseph Anthony, Brandon, Michaela, and Mason Gallagher; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Jeanne Sturtevant.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning at 8:45, and from there to the Parish of Mater Christi (formerly St. Catherine of Siena Church), Hurst Ave., Albany at 9:30.
