Elaine M. Mendel-Allen

ALBANY – Elaine M. Mendel-Allen, 64, of Albany, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Elaine fought cancer for a courageous 7 years and yet always focused on the positives. Most days you wouldn’t have even known she was sick. Elaine was born October 10^th, 1958 in Albany and lived here all her life.  She was a graduate of Academy of the Holy Names, Hudson Valley Community College and the State University of New York at Albany. Elaine was a dedicated worker and spent most of her career working for all the Mendel Family businesses. She was known to many as “Miss Elaine” or “Lainey” from years as a daycare provider both in her home and at Capital Milestone Daycare in Albany. She loved her family above all else and supported them wholeheartedly; especially her two little “lovies.” Elaine loved cooking and making her Greek cookies and desserts. She was known for making food for a crowd even if it was just for a handful. No one was allowed to leave hungry.

Elaine is survived by her beloved husband Francis X. Allen, Sr.; her mother Andriana Mendel; her children Francis X. Allen, Jr. (Amanda “AJ” Mirecki-Allen) of Delanson, and Andrea M. Allen, Katherine M. Allen-Dugan (Kevin Dugan), and Mason “MC” Allen, all of Albany; her sibling Paul A. Mendel of Clearwater, FL; her grandchildren Finn T. Dugan and Liam C. Dugan, and extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Charles F. Mendel, and her brother Charles M. Mendel, Sr.
