ALBANY – Halina C. DiMura, 89, of Albany, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Shaker Place Nursing Home. Halina was born in Worcester, MA, and raised for a time in Providence, RI, before moving to Albany. She was a graduate of Albany High School and was employed in the office of New York City Mayor John Lindsay for a time. She later worked for New York State Senator Edwin Mason and then returned to college as an adult, and in 1979 earned a Bachelors degree from the College of Saint Rose, graduating Summa Magna Cum Laude and serving as the valedictorian. In 1981 she earned a law degree from South Texas College of Law, and in 1991 was admitted to the New York Bar. She was employed by several area law firms, then opened her own practice, working until she was in her eighties.
Halina enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners, and was always very fashionable and looked up to as an expert in fashion. She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially trips to Maine, and loved shopping at garage sales.
Halina was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph DiMura. She is survived by her sons Joseph DiMura and Daniel P. DiMura (Susan) of Albany; her grandchildren Phillip J. and Joshua W. DiMura, and Kyle J. and Alexandra DiMura Christenson (Robert Christenson). She was predeceased by her brother Chester Klosek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany, on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the church prior to the mass from 9:30-11:00 am. Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
