EAST GREENBUSH – Helen Dalton Yezzi, 100, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home. Born in Auburn, NY on September 17, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Edward & Leta Aldrich Dalton. A sister Marjorie also predeceased her.
Helen was married on October 5, 1935, and happily shared over 50 years with her devoted husband Joseph who passed away in July 1987. For 46 years, Helen & Joseph worked side by side, owning and operating successful women’s clothing stores in Albany and Pittsfield (Josef Yezzi), and Troy and Latham (Lord and Tann). Many who remember her from those years recall her easy elegance, and winning sense of style. After enjoying many pleasant winters in Florida, they retired full time to South Palm Beach. Aside from business interests, Helen was an avid bridge player, reader, and loved crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her sons Donald (Susan), C. David (the late Kathryn), and her daughter Dee Dee (Raymond) Rohne; her grandchildren Kit (Philip) Melnick, Jennifer Yezzi, Peter (Dhianna) Yezzi, Carolyn (Iain) MacKenzie, David (Sarah) Yezzi, Michael Yezzi, Sarah (Mark) Lonergan, Kathryn Yezzi (Daniel Cotton), Christopher (Shannon) Pohl, Jeffrey (Lynn) Pohl, Jennifer Pohl, and Timothy Pohl; seventeen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
The family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen Commons for the love and care they provided Helen during her time there.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning at 10:15, and from there to Christ the King Church, Sumter Ave., Guilderland at 11:00. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Tuesday morning beginning at 9 am. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
