GUILDERLAND – Howard F. Murphy, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Teresian House. The son of Frank and Esther (Maxwell) Murphy, he was born and raised in Watervliet, N.Y. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School (CCHS), Class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. Before his retirement he was employed by the New York State Office of General Services. He was a devout Catholic and a communicant for many years of All Saints Catholic Church and the former St. Margaret Marys Church. He was a life long avid sports fan, especially of the Mets, traveling with his wife Annlee and loved to read.
Howard was pre-deceased by his wife Annlee E. (Gilmore) Murphy, daughter Elisa Haskins (survived by Wayne.) His brothers Thomas, George, Francis Murphy and sister Claire Leathem. He is survived by his son John F. Murphy (Melissa) of Guilderland; his grandchildren, Taylor Terry (Jonathan), Jacquelynne Murphy, Angela, Justin, Eric, and Michael Haskins and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Peter and Paul Gilmore, sister-in-law Lucy Murphy and several nieces and nephews.
