SELKIRK – Jane G. O’Keefe, 90, of Selkirk, passed away at home under hospice care on Thursday, March 12, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Cohoes, the daughter of William and Gertrude Brown. Jane worked for New York State a number of years where she met her future husband Tom. She worked as a cafeteria monitor at both Goodrich and Shaker Junior High School. She loved her job with the children and used her whistle to keep order.
Jane was married to her late husband Tom for 55 years. They were communicants at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Latham. They enjoyed camping with their family in the trusty Shasta as well as many ski trips where mom would knit homemade hats and sweaters while the boys skied. After retirement they spent winters in Florida. as snowbirds.
Jane is survived by her earth sister Shirley Jordan and her very fortunate sons Kevin, Thomas Jr. (Laura), and Barry(her favorite). She is the cherished grandmother of Mary Kate, Brendan, Heather and Ryan. Jane’s guardian angel for 20 years was the incomparable Dr. David Pallet.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Latham. Jane donated her body to Albany Medical College. Her remains will be buried at Saratoga National Cemetery where she will rest next to her beloved Tom. Contributions can be made to The Community Hospice, 310 S. Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208.
