Janet E. “Jackie” Mahony

ALBANY – Janet E. “Jackie” Mahony, 90, of Albany, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at St. Peter’s Nursing & Rehab. Center.   Jackie was born in Bangor, Maine.  She married Edwin Schump in 1949, and together they had two sons.  In 1953 she married Daniel P. Mahony and moved to the Albany area.  Together they had one son, Daniel, Jr.  Jackie was employed for 42 years by Lerner Shops in Albany until retiring as shop steward.  During this time she met the love of her life, Peter V. Arcidiacono, who was a father figure to her son Daniel.  Together they shared many years together vacationing in Maine.

Jackie enjoyed horse racing, playing the lottery, and dinners out at the local pubs.  She was always a very generous person. After Peter passed away, she spent a lot of time with her son Daniel.  She will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

Jackie was predeceased by her significant other Peter V. Arcidiacono in 2012; and by her former husband Edwin Schump, and her husband Daniel P. Mahony, Sr.  She is survived by her sons Robert Schump (Vicky) of Oregon, Michael Schump Mahony (Joan) of Colorado, and Daniel P. Mahony, Jr. (Terry) of Albany; her six grandchildren including locally Jennifer, Erin, and Katie Markham; and her three great grandchildren Kaylee, Joseph, and Brynn.

The family extends their deep appreciation to the staff at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehab. Center for the wonderful care they provided to Janet.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Friday morning at 11:00 a.m.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Friday morning prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m.  Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
