Janeth L. Eberle

ALBANY – Janeth Louise Whittemore Eberle, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 7, 2012 at the Teresian House in Albany. She was born in Lansingburgh, and moved with her family to Albany as a young child.  She lived in Albany for the rest of her life, with summers spent at Burden Lake surrounded by family and friends.  In addition to raising her five children, Jan devoted her life to works of charity.  She loved caring for children and volunteered for many years at the Center for Disability Services.  During World War II she volunteered her services with the First Fighter Command and at Brady Maternity Hospital, and bought and sold war bonds.

Jan was the daughter of the late Anna and William Whittemore, and sister of the late Ruth Trimble Randall.  She was predeceased by her husband George Albert Eberle, infant son Eric, and son Stephen.  Jan is survived by her children David, Paul, Marilyn, and Peter (Kristen); her grandchildren Erika (Eric) Kuepferle, Aaron (Angela) Eberle, Melanie (David) Benton, Janeth (David) Pescetelli, Joseph Eberle, and Amy (Sean) Ernye, who, with their families, will miss their wonderful Nanny.  Jan is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Jan’s family would like to thank the staff of Teresian House for the wonderful care they gave her during the last years of her life.

A memorial gathering will be held at Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave, Albany, on Monday, August 13th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  Jan has requested that her body be donated to Albany Medical College’s Anatomical Gift Program.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cornelia deLange Syndrome Foundation (www.CdLSusa.org), Teresian House Foundation, or the charity of one’s choice will be appreciated.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, send a sympathy card, or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
