Janice R. Cioppa

GUILDERLAND – Janice R. Cioppa, 79, of Guilderland, died peacefully on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush.  Mrs. Cioppa was born in Cambridge, NY, but lived in the Albany area most of her life.  She was a graduate of the Childs Hospital School of Nursing, and was employed by the Latham Medical Group, working for Dr. Richard Heinig and Dr. Denis Chagnon.  She was a communicant of  Christ the King Church in Guilderland, and served there as a Eucharistic Minister and as a member of the Home Visitation Committee.  She also was a member and past president of the local chapter of the AARP, and was an instructor for the AARP’s 65 Alive driving program.

Mrs. Cioppa is survived by her beloved husband Michael T. Cioppa; her children Michele A. Meyers of Salisbury, MD, Philip M. Cioppa  (San Juanita Mata) of Danbury, CT, and Colonel (Retired, U.S. Army) Thomas M. Cioppa (Cynthia) of Lansing, KS; her sisters Mary Field (Robert) of Millbrook, NY, and Carolyn LeFleche (Armand) of Waterford, CT; her grandchildren Meghan M. Warren (Nicholas), Matthew M. Meyers, Retha J. Cioppa, and Micah R. Cioppa; her great grandchildren Lee Thomas Warren and Ava Marie Warren; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Monday morning at 9:00, and from there to Christ the King Church, Sumpter Ave., Guilderland at 10:00.   Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-6 p.m. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather in the funeral home at 4:30 pm Sunday for a service of prayer and remembrance.  All are welcome.   Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, send a sympathy card, or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
