Jeanette Blanchette

GUILDERLAND – Jeanette M. Russell Blanchette, 91, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully with her beloved family at her side on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.  Jeanette was born in Albany, the daughter of the late George J. Russell and Vivian L. Harris Russell.  She lived all her life in the Albany area. Her first job was at McKown’s Grove at the concession stand where she took the bus from downtown Albany to stop 7.  She was employed and retired from SUNY Albany, and was a longtime communicant and an active member of All Saints Catholic Church,  and the former St. Margaret Mary’s Church.

She met her HONEY while working at Bell Telephone as an elevator operator, they married on October 11, 1952 at St. Margaret Mary’s, raised 6 children, and were married 63 years!

Jeanette was an animal lover to the core.  Her “POOPY” aka D>O>G>, whom she spoiled but would nip her in a second, (always had a band-aid ready) Tank, Fiona and many more grandpets.  She loved chocolate, her front porch (where she could tan without trying, JEALOUS !!), casinos, sometimes won, LOL.  She didn’t sew or iron, so you better have known how ……….

Jeanette was predeceased by the love, protector, gentle giant and everybody’s POPPY of her life, Theodore “Al” Blanchette.  She is survived by her children Nancy Bombard ( The OLD ONE), lol (Bob) of Colonie, Judith Jones (The Favorite) of Albany, Denise Heiserman( PITA) (James) of Guilderland, Regina Burby (FINANCIAL ADVISOR) (Mark) of Guilderland, and Timothy Blanchette (THE BABY) of Guilderland; her grandchildren James Masa (Angelina), Annette Seymour (Carlos), Nicole Felix (Juan), Blake Prusky, Antoinette Williams (David), Gretchen Graydon (Mark), Brittany Heiserman (Mo), Jesse Burby (Casidhe), Shelby Stoodley (Eric), Christopher Blanchette (Alyse), and Rebecka Cox); her great grandchildren  Mia, James, Richard, Lucia, Joseph, Thomas, Yaz, Xavier, Ryan, Gabriella, Marcello, Addyson, Alexander, Jocelyn, Tiernan, Lily Rose, Jason,Charlie, Leo, Jackson, Julia, Cameron, Hanley, and Shyne; her sister-in-law Marion Blanchet; and by several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her son Alan Blanchette; her grandson Tyler Heiserman; her granddaughter Tristan Prusky, her brother Walter “Buddy” Russell, and her sister Georgianna Spadaro.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, on Saturday, December 2nd at 8:15 a.m., and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany (behind CVS) at 9:00 a.m.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home on Friday, December 1st, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or find directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com .
