Joseph R. Benoit

COHOES – Joseph R. Benoit, 75, of Cohoes, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023.  Joe was born in Albany, the son of the late Joseph A. Benoit and Mary Ravida Benoit.  He lived in the area all his life.  He attended Vincentian Institute and graduated from Albany High School before serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war.  He was employed by Williams Press, Fort Orange Press, and for many years by R R Donnelley.  Joe loved golfing and bowling and was a “foodie” who enjoyed dining out, especially at D’Raymonds, and Dee Dee’s.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife Blanche McKeon Benoit; his sons Joseph A. Benoit of Albany, and Brian Benoit (Rachael) of Cohoes; his siblings Charles A. Benoit (Lynn) of Clermont, FL, Michael T. Benoit (Lois) of Mechanicsville, VA, Margaret Krisandra (Terry Teske) of Aurora, CO, and James W. Benoit (Carolyn) of Albany;  his grandchildren Zachary Benoit, Zoe Gilman, and Miley, Cleo, and Stella Benoit; and by many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his grandchild Nebula Benoit.

A memorial gathering will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, on Saturday December 9^th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a prayer service to be held at 2:00 p.m.  Relatives and friends are invited.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
