ALBANY – Joseph T. DiMura, 94, of Albany, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Albany Medical Center. Joe was born in Albany, one of ten children of Joseph and Josephine Scuderi DiMura. He was a 1946 graduate of Albany High School, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war he joined the Bricklayer and Allied Craftsman’s Union in Albany, and he was employed as a bricklayer and stonemason for many years until retiring in 1990. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting and fishing, tinkering on cars and anything that needed repair, vacations with his family, the Adirondacks, and his camp at Raquette Lake. He will be remembered as a highly skilled craftsman.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years Halina Klosek DiMura; his sons Joseph DiMura and Daniel P. DiMura (Susan) of Albany; his grandchildren Phillip J. and Joshua W. DiMura, and Kyle J. and Alexandra Fielding DiMura; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by all of his siblings and their spouses; his sisters Mary Fox (Thomas), Antoinette Gach (Paul), Phyllis Lounello (Salvatore); and his brothers Frank (Stella and Ruth), Salvatore (Virginia), Fortune (Marie), Anthony (Venera), Charles, and John (Beverly) Dimura.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Saturday morning at 8:15, and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany (behind CVS). Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-7 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
