Josephine Ann Tozzi

ALBANY – Josephine Ann Tozzi, 86, of Albany, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Ravena and was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary Pomellitto. Josephine has been an Albany resident since 1951. She had worked for the Albany School District for several years. Josephine was a talented seamstress, creating beautiful Christening outfits for babies baptisms. She enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, baking and knitting. Josephine was a member of the Granny Squares at All Saints Church. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, the lights of her life.

Josephine was predeceased in 2001 by her husband, Enio Tozzi. She is the cherished mother of Michael, Lawrence, Darlene, Anthony Tozzi (Barbara Murray), and John (Chuck) Tozzi. She is the sister of Frances (Don) Weidenbacker, Frank (Joan) Pomellitto, Carmella DiBella and the late Carmen and Salvatore (Ann) Pomellitto. Josephine is also survived by four grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, August 6, 2015, at 9:15 a.m. at Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, then to St. Francis of Assisi Church (formerly St. James) at 10 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Leukemia Society in memory of Josephine A. Tozzi.
