CLIFTON PARK – Lucille Rosa Calsolaro Gutto was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven with open arms on Sunday, February 5, 2023 after a brief illness. The eldest of three children, she was born in Albany, NY on February 17, 1928 to Dominick Calsolaro and Angela Rose Yavonditte Calsolaro. In 1946 she graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany and married the love of her life, Francis A. Gutto, on April 4,1948. She was affiliated with her family’s restaurant, Calsolaro’s, and was employed by the Albany County Department of Finance for thirteen years. She was a longtime communicant of St. Teresa of Avila parish in Albany and then later of St. Margaret Mary’s parish also in Albany. She was always heavily involved in the goings on of her parish. She served in the choir while a parishioner at St. Teresa of Avila and as both a Lector and Eucharistic Minister while a parishioner of both St. Teresa of Avila & St. Margaret Mary’s. In her later years, Lucille moved northward to Wilton to be closer to some of her children, where she was a communicant of St. Clement’s parish in Saratoga Springs.
Lucille was predeceased by her husband, Francis, her brother, Joseph Calsolaro (Jean), and her sister Marie Calsolaro DiMura (Fortune). She is survived by her five children: son Francis A. Gutto, Jr. (Penelope) of Valatie, son Carmen D. Gutto of Florida, daughter Rosanne M. Gutto (Martin) of Halfmoon, son Gerard J. Gutto (Cindy) of Ballston Spa, and son Paul J. Gutto also of Ballston Spa. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, several great & great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.
The Gutto family would like to offer a very heartfelt thank you to Martin Brozowski who was a loyal, loving caregiver of Lucille for the past two years and in that time, has become a very loved and cherished member of the family.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Friday morning at 8:15 a.m., and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany (behind CVS), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 S Pearl St, Albany, NY 12202.
