Marjorie E. Leddick

ALBANY – Marjorie E. Murphy Leddick, 86, of Westmere, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022.  Marge was born in Utica, the daughter of the late Hamilton S. Murphy and Genevieve C. McGrath Murphy.  She lived most of her life in the Albany area and graduated from the Vincentian Institute where she inherited the nickname “Murph”. Marge was employed by Sealtest Ice Cream, the Crafts Plus store in Stuyvesant Plaza, and by A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts in Latham.  She was a communicant of the former St. Margaret Mary’s Church, and of All Saints Catholic Church in Albany, where she was a member of the senior citizens group and of Granny Squares where she knitted hundreds of hats and scarves for those in need. Marge enjoyed volunteering as a life Auxiliary member at Westmere and McKownville Fire Departments. When not volunteering, she enjoyed spending time in her gardens, crafting, visiting with family and friends and frequenting casinos and the bingo hall.

Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Richard W. Leddick in 2004.  She is survived by her children Robert W. (Sharon) Leddick of McKownville, Michael E. Leddick and Mary Virginia “Ginger” Leddick, both of Westmere. Marge shared a special bond with Tony Persico whose love and support was undeniable. Marge is also survived by her grandchildren Darron and Meghan Leddick (Brandon Wright) of Guilderland; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings David Murphy, Janice O’Rourke, and Clark Murphy.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Thursday morning at 8:15 a.m., and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany (behind CVS) at 9:00 a.m.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.  Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.  The family suggests memorial contributions to the Northeast Kidney Foundation, 22 Colvin Ave, Albany, NY 12206.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com .
