Mary Ellen Morelli

ALBANY - Mary Ellen Morelli, 94, beloved wife of the late Victor L. Morelli, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 30, 2024. Mary Ellen, or “Mema” as she was known by her family and many that knew her, was born in Albany on August 25th, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Helen and John Cassidy. Mary Ellen was raised in Albany and attended Cathedral Academy High School. She spent her entire life living in Albany and moved to the home she so cherished with her husband in 1959 where they would go on to raise their family. She was a life-long parishioner of All Saints (Holy Cross) Church.

Mary Ellen will always be remembered for her deep faith, kindness, generosity, quick wit and helpful nature to everyone who needed it. She was a wonderful, loving, supportive mother who was always available to provide love, encouragement and sound advice. Always offering a smile and warm greeting she left a positive impression with those she encountered. We are all better for having known her and been loved by her.

Mary Ellen spent much of her working years at SEFCU where she loved greeting customers and chatting in her warm welcoming way. She loved spending time with her family and hardly missed her grandchildren’s sporting or special events. She looked forward to her annual trip to Cape Cod where she marveled at the sunsets and enjoyed spending time with her family. Holidays were always a special time for her, especially Christmas and the annual singing of Silent Night.

Her faith was incredibly strong and she was a true believer in the power of prayer. She will surely be welcomed in Heaven and be reunited with her husband, parents, and many relatives and friends.

She is survived by her 5 children and their spouses; Karen (Jack) LaFrank, Michael (Lori) Morelli, John (Margaret) Morelli, Vicki (Joseph) Kirchner, and Steven (Colleen) Morelli. She was a loving Grandmother to Jennifer (Christopher) Trumbull, Heather Stone, Alison (Sean) Turner, Theresa (Matt King) Morelli, Kate Morelli, Elizabeth Morelli, Michael Morelli, Laura Morelli, Christopher Morelli, Mark Morelli, Daniel Kirchner, Joseph (Lindsay Hall) Kirchner, Connor Morelli, Kyle Morelli and Carter Morelli. She was also the proud “Mema” to nine great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother Jack Cassidy.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the caregivers who allowed our Mom to remain at home in her final years. A special thank you to Sheila, an angel on Earth, for all the love and care she provided.
