Michael Dutcher

EAST CHATHAM – Michael Dutcher of East Chatham, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. He was loved dearly and is sadly missed by his wife Catherine. He was fondly known and loved as Uncle Michael by his family of in laws, nephew, nieces, grand nephews, cousins. He is survived by his wife Catherine, brother Dennis (Ceal), and son Jeffrey.  He was the son of the late Ethel and Frank Dutcher.

Michael graduated from Seton Hall University, Paterson, NJ with a degree in Business Law and Finance. He served as VP of Consumer Loan Division for Borden Inc. and Bankers Trust. Later he received an MSW from Hunter College, NYC. He also worked in Theatre, Videography, and General Contracting.

Michael was a kind soul who was always ready to help, had a great sense of humor, and lived to enjoy every moment. Michael had a passion for life and learning which led him to many experiences and professions. For the past ten years he devoted himself as a volunteer to the East Chatham Fire Company. He was a Class A Interior Fire Fighter, Fire Police Captain, EMS Lieutenant, and served as Director for two years, President for one year, and past Company Engineer.

His body was donated to the Anatomical Department at Albany Medical College as his last community service hoping that any possible research toward Powassan Virus could help others.
