SCHENECTADY – Paul Joseph Steenburg, 61 years old, lost his battle with cancer and went into eternal rest to be with the lord on Tuesday, Oct. 8th, with his brothers and sisters by his side. Paul was born in Gloversville on Sept. 30th 1952. He was the Son of the late Clarence L. and Helen M. (Bennett) Steenburg. He attended Gloversville schools, and then served in the United States Army in 1969, serving in Okinawa, Japan. After the military, he worked in various leather mills and also as an Auto Mechanic. After moving to Schenectady 15 years ago, he worked in Construction. He is survived by 3 children: Paul Jr., Seth, and Brittany Steenburg; his brothers John (Joanne) Steenburg of Dolgeville, and James and Richard Steenburg of Gloversville; his sisters Maryanne (Irving) Mussen of PA, Carol (Roy) Sweet of Mayfield, and Jo Ann (Ed) Kiffney of Gloversville. He is also survived by his campanion Kathy Pierce of Schenectady, and by Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. Paul loved the outdoors, enjoying the scenery and fishing at his favorite lakes. He was a big fan of Nascar and Football. Mark Martin and the Dallas cowboys were his favorites. Paul had a big heart and in showing this, he graciously bequeathed his body to Albany Medical College for anatomical study and research for cancer. His ashes will be interred at a later date in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville where a memorial service will be conducted. In honoring Paul’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Memorial contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society.
