Robert P. Rickards

ALBANY - Robert P. Rickards, 86, died Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in Loudonville, NY. The son of the late Robert P. and Kathryn Ann (Waldbillig) Rickards. Robert is survived by his brother John P. Rickards (wife-Karin S. Rickards) of Storrs, CT; his cousin Joseph Rickards of Jamestown, NY; and his two nieces Kristine Schlichting of Glastonbury, CT and Claire Szymanski of Narragansett, RI.

Robert lived a quiet life in the family home for his entire life. After graduating from Siena College in 1963, he worked as a case worker for Albany County Social Services. Someone who worked there at the same time as Robert recently told us that “Bob helped save lives” and was often asked to participate in the meetings of the Director and his staff. 

Robert was a superb wordsmith who took pleasure in choosing just the right word to use from his exceedingly large vocabulary. And, Robert loved many different kinds of comedy and music as reflected in his extensive record collection. 

Since he left his home last July and went to Peregrine Delmar Place Assisted Living and then to Loudonville Assisted Living Residence, he has made many friends. This was especially the case at Loudonville Assisted Living Residence where he flourished in the many social settings they provided.
