NISKAYUNA - Theo Ethel Cox Lovell, 97, of Niskayuna died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Theo was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Faith guided her life and she lived her life as a testament to God and the Lord Jesus. She was born on October 10, 1927 in Medford Ma., and grew up in Gloucester, Ma. After graduating High School, she went to Fisher College in Boston for Nursing, and after graduation worked at Boston Children’s Hospital. Theo met her husband Joseph Warren Lovell in Boston and they were married for over 69 years. She celebrated a twin wedding with her sister Louise in Annisquam Ma., and then Theo and Joe lived in Sharon Ma, then Marblehead Ma, and finally in Schenectady New York.Theo was owner of Salt Box Estate Sales which she started at a time when few women provided Estate Sales and Appraisal Services. She had a life time love of Antiques which began with her father owning an Antique Store in Annisquam Ma. She ran Salt Box for over 35 years in the Capital District and did this well into her 80's. Theo was a Red Cross nurse Volunteer at Ellis Hospital. She loved tennis and was President of Schenectady Women’s Tennis Association. She volunteered every year at the Rummage Sales at Union Presbyterian Church for decades, where she also served as a deacon and taught Sunday School. She is a member of the First Reformed Church in Schenectady Stockade. She was a member of Schenectady Curling Club and ran the youth curling program for students. Theo loved working in her garden and was so proud of her beautiful flower garden. She always had her Golden retrievers Goldie and Georgie Girl by her side. Theo and Joe traveled extensively around the world and once flew on theConcord to London. She enjoyed making hooked rugs and Islandic sweaters for all her family and friends. Most of all Theo loved her family. She rented a huge Inn in Gloucester Ma. several times where family reunions kept growing and eventually exceeded 75 people from all over New England and Canada.Theo was the daughter of Frank Leroy Cox of Presque Isle Maine and Annabell MacAulay of Nova Scotia.She is predeceased by her husband Joseph Warren Lovell Jr. She is predeceased by brothers Lt. Col.Frank L. Cox, and Norman A. Cox and sisters Louise Ingham and Christine Lane, and by sisters Blanch Shaw and Marjorie Champagne. Her youngest brother David Cox currently resides in Gloucester Ma. She has four children, Stephen Warren Lovell (Jan Santo) Paul Geoffrey Lovell (Lori Clark) Jane Caprara (Al Caprara) and David Johnathan Lovell (Pamela Otero), 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. A memorial service to celebrate Theo's life will be held on Wednesday March 12th 2025 at 10:00 am at Bethel Full Gospel Church located at 3625 Guilderland Ave, Rotterdam, NY 12306.
