Vincent Galluzzo

ALBANY – Vincent “Vince” Galluzzo, 86, of Albany, entered peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 13, 2021. He was born on November 1, 1934 in Locri, Reggio Calabria, Italy, the son of Carlo and Guiseppina Galluzzo.  He emigrated to the United States with his mother and sister at the age of 15 to join his father after a long absence due to World War II. He attended St. John’s Academy to continue his education, where he learned four languages and graduated in 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1958 aboard the USS Salem CA-139 in the Mediterranean where he visited many countries. While revisiting Italy, he met Anna Maria Torre, who would become the love of his life for 61 years. They returned home by cruise ship to start a life and a family in Albany, New York.

Vince was a family man with an infectious laugh and a strong work ethic. He worked as a successful food broker in Albany for many years and retired in 1994. He loved a great meal with family and friends. He had a passion for sports, especially soccer, the ocean, and gardening. He took pride in making Italian homemade specialties, such as wine, soppresata, olives and bread. He loved to make people laugh with a good joke and there wasn’t a microphone that he did not like. He will be deeply missed.

Vince is survived by his beloved wife Anna; his son Carlo; his daughters Josephine (Richard) Davis, Maryanne (Joe) Tirino-Mitchell; his five cherished grandchildren Sabrina, Nick, Vincent, and Anthony Tirino, and Brianna Galluzzo; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his loving sister and brother-in-law Concetta & Vincent Commisso, and his son-in-law Nick Tirino.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Nina and her care team at Landmark Health for their exceptional care and compassion during this difficult time.
